Stage 4 Mathematics (Years 7–8)

Stage 4 Mathematics provides students with a strong foundation in essential number skills, algebra, geometry, measurement, statistics, and probability. It focuses on building fluency, developing problem‑solving strategies, and applying mathematics to everyday situations.

What Students Learn

• Number & Finance: Operations with whole numbers, integers, fractions, and decimals; percentages, ratios, rates, and simple interest.

• Algebra: Introduction to variables, expressions, equations, and linear relationships.

• Geometry & Measurement: Angle relationships, properties of triangles and quadrilaterals, perimeter, area, and volume of simple solids.

• Statistics & Probability: Collecting and representing data, calculating mean/median/mode, and exploring chance experiments.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of Stage 4, students will:

• Develop confidence in performing calculations across different number types.
